Meet Team Captain, David Wang

David, a senior at Bishop Kelly High School, has quickly become an inspiring leader both on and off the tennis court. Having started tennis less than two years ago, his dedication and work ethic have already paid off—moving from the practice squad as a sophomore to earning a spot on Varsity during his junior year.

Last October, he co-founded EmpowerPlay, a nonprofit he started with friends to give back to the community through sports. Their mission is to connect people of all skill levels and backgrounds through the joy of movement, play, and teamwork.

Off the court, David enjoys spending time with friends and grabbing a coffee from Starbucks. His go-to order is a latte with heavy matcha cream. Looking ahead, he plans to attend college and pursue a degree in sports management to combine his passion for athletics with leadership skills.

What David loves most about tennis is the challenge of competing individually while still being part of a team to support and cheer on! His journey is a true example of growth, leadership, and community impact.
