This Week's Highlights
Gabbi Molen -- Middleton (16-1, +3-0 this week)
Gabbi continues to pile up wins at a rate no other captain can match. She and partner Ryan Anderson picked up three more doubles victories this week, including a hard-fought win over Fruitland (7-6, 6-4) that went to a tiebreaker in the first set -- the tightest match Gabbi has played in weeks. They also beat Vallivue (6-3, 6-1) and picked up a default win against Skyview. Fifteen straight wins since her only loss of the season. Her doubles TRPR has climbed again to 13.4, still the highest among in the state.
Heidi McMillan -- Boise (11-1, +2-0 this week)
Heidi added two more singles wins to her impressive run, including a gritty 6-3, 7-6(3) victory over Mountain View's Kayla Gray that required a tiebreaker to close out the second set. That makes four straight wins since her only loss, and her singles TRPR has surged to 12.5. Heidi has now won seven of eight singles matches this season, and her ability to close out tight sets is what separates her from the pack. At 11-1 overall, she's the most complete player we're following.
Sofia Guzman -- Bishop Kelly (10-1, +2-0 this week)
Sofia and brother Will Guzman are becoming one of the most reliable doubles partnerships on the roster. They picked up two more wins this week -- a 6-0, 6-0 blanking of Emmett and a 6-0, 6-1 win over Vallivue. That sibling combo has now won every match they've played together. Sofia's doubles TRPR has jumped to 12.9, tied with Ryan Emerson. Nine straight doubles wins since her lone loss against Boise back in March. Sofia hits double-digit wins for the first time this season.
Ryan Emerson -- Bishop Kelly (10-1, +2-0 this week)
Ryan also reached the double-digit win milestone this week, picking up two doubles victories with partner Ellis Brown -- beating Emmett (6-0, 6-0) and Vallivue (6-0, 6-1). That's seven straight wins for Ryan, and his versatility continues to stand out -- he's now won with three different doubles partners this season (Lauren Mallory, Luke Perko, and Ellis Brown) while also posting two singles wins. His doubles TRPR has climbed to 12.9. At 10-1, Ryan is playing the best tennis of his high school career.
Colton Symes -- Eagle (7-0, +2-0 this week)
The only undefeated captain keeps rolling. Colton and Tyler Osborne added two more doubles wins -- beating Timberline (6-1, 6-0) and Borah (6-1, 6-0). Seven matches, seven wins, and opponents are still struggling to get on the board against this duo. The Symes-Osborne partnership has conceded a total of five games across seven matches this season. Colton is the quiet force in this group -- no flash, no drama, just dominant results every time he steps on the court.
David Wang -- Bishop Kelly (6-1, no matches this week)
David didn't see action this past week, but his 6-1 record and steady improvement remain one of the best stories of the season. Look for him to be back on the court soon as Bishop Kelly's schedule picks up.
